Clinical Outreach Program

We deliver free, trauma-informed programs in complex mental health, clinical and carceral settings, including inpatient hospital wards, community care units and prisons.

These programs offer participants a chance to reconnect with their bodies, settle the nervous system, and experience moments of calm, choice and connection, even in high-stress or involuntary environments.

Our facilitators work with great care, skill and flexibility to ensure that each session meets the needs of whoever is in the room, whether that’s a participant experiencing the side effects of medication, or a staff member in need of a nervous system reset.

Since 2019, we’ve partnered with Maroondah Hospital to deliver weekly Therapeutic Movement and Mindfulness sessions across two inpatient wards.

These voluntary, drop-in sessions take place in open ward spaces and are open to patients and staff alike, supporting dignity, choice and relational safety.

We’ve since expanded this program to other health services, including Broadmeadows Community Care Unit, Western Health, Cohealth and St Vincent’s Hospital.

Clinical outreach programs are fully funded by the service or supported by grants and philanthropy, so that participants can attend freely and without barriers.

Delivery modes

Drop-in program

This delivery mode works best in settings where clients are engaged in short-term stays, or where casual programs are more effective. I.e. PARC facilities and psychiatric in-patient wards.

Structured program

This delivery mode works best in settings where clients have longer-term service engagement and can commit to a 6-8 wee program. I.e. trauma recovery and therapeutic services.

“We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to run this program at the NHCCU. Anu was very skilled at managing any difficulties that arose and made our participants feel at ease.”
